Manchester Synagogue Attack: One Victim Was Likely Fired Upon by Police

During a tragic turn of events, one of the individuals lost during the Heaton Park synagogue attack is believed to have been shot dead by armed police officers.

Police Announcement Confirms Firearm Injury

The chief constable from the local force announced that the Home Office pathologist has initially concluded the victim died of a bullet injury.

“Overnight, we have taken advice from forensic specialists before detailed autopsies scheduled for later today. The expert has advised that he has provisionally determined a victim would appear to have suffered a injury matching a firearm wound.”

Attacker Information

The suspect, a 35-year-old individual, did not have a gun, and all discharged rounds came from the police officers on site.

Authorities think the victim was among those positioned at the entrance trying to stop the attacker from entering the building.

Consequences of Police Action

“It follows therefore that subject to further forensic examination, the wound was unfortunately incurred as a unintended and heartbreaking result of the urgently required action employed by my officers to bring this vicious attack to an end.”

Names Released

Both individuals who lost their lives during the synagogue incident located in Manchester earlier this week were identified as 53-year-old Adrian Daulby and 66-year-old Melvin Cravitz.

These individuals lost their lives when a vehicle was employed to ram into the grounds of the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue, then stabbed worshippers in a brief violent spree that ended only when armed officers fired upon him, ending his life near the synagogue entrance.

Additional Injuries

Three others sustained major injuries in the violent act on the Day of Atonement, the most sacred occasion in the Jewish calendar.

Watson said, “We have also been advised that another injured person currently receiving treatment sustained a gunshot wound, which is mercifully not life threatening. It is believed the two individuals were close together behind the synagogue door, as attendees showed courage to stop the assailant from getting inside.”

Community Support

“Our thoughts and prayers remain with the affected relatives, and the wider community, touched by this incident across Greater Manchester and beyond. Specialist officers are providing support and assistance for everyone involved, including the courageous emergency teams.”

Attacker Profile

Authorities identified the perpetrator as the individual, thirty-five, a British citizen of Syrian origin.

Local law enforcement said that three other people – two men in their 30s and a woman in her 60s – had been detained “on suspicion of commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism”.
