Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim confesses he cannot conceal from his disappointing statistics and states it is normal that Old Trafford icons are questioning him.

On Tuesday, the club's record scorer Wayne Rooney stated on his show that "the soul has vanished" from his old team.

The Portuguese manager has secured just 18 wins from his 49 matches in charge, featuring nine out of thirty-three in the Premier League, where he has still to record back-to-back consecutive victories.

Despite the fact that senior club insiders are insistent that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is still behind the manager, failure to defeat recently promoted their next opponents on Saturday will trigger fresh rumors about his role heading into the upcoming fortnight international break.

"It is normal," said the Portugal-born manager, when questioned about the former striker's observations. "One can't escape from the performance."

"Then you have the legacy from the previous campaign, [although] last season for me doesn't matter."

Supporter Response and Current Circumstances

United's fans remained behind Amorim following last season's dismal showing, when they ended up 15th in the league - their lowest performance since the 1973/74 relegation campaign - and were defeated in the Europa League final, in the hope that this season would be substantially improved.

The manager assured supporters the situation would improve because he had additional time to work with his squad without the midweek distraction of European competition.

However is not been how the initial six fixtures have materialised as United have suffered 3 losses already and sit fourteenth in the standings.

Manager's Response to Concerns

When questioned what promises he could give supporters that the circumstances will change, Amorim continued: "This is not moment to talk, it is the time to prove."

"I look at the games this season and, for me, they are completely different, but I have nothing to comment at this moment."

  • Man Utd presently hold 14th place in the top flight
  • Amorim has won just eighteen of his forty-nine games in charge
